USM, Penang, 20 June 2017 — A 20-weeks Data Science program and 2-days Executive Data Science program has been offered to directors, head of departments and employees of Jabil Corporation to upgrade their knowledge in order to stay abreast in the fast changing technological era. The programs were a compressed version of several graduate-level courses but customized to the need of the company.

After going through the 20-weeks program that started from 10th October 2016 to 7th April 2017, these citizen data scientists are now well-versed in data analytics, advanced database management, big data, statistics, predictive modeling and economics and business principles and are going to be applying all this to a range of internal projects for Jabil with high impact potential.

The participants were honored to have their certificates by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of USM, Prof Dato’ Dr Muhamad Jantan and Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer for Jabil Corporation. The 2-days Executive Data Science program, conducted on 25th and 26th of April, was attended by senior directors and head of departments. The opening welcome speech was delivered by the Director of National Advanced IPv6 Centre (NAv6), Prof Dr Rosni Abdullah. The certificates were handed out by Jabil Enterprise Architect, Kenty Adams and School of Computer Sciences Dean, Prof Dr Ahmad Tajudin Khader. The programs were put together with the help of experts from NAv6 and School of Computer Sciences, USM.
